Morgan County Jail Roster
The official Morgan County Sheriff's Office roster chooser splits jail inmate records into two public paths: Current Inmates and 48 Hour Release. The current roster covers people booked into Morgan County Jail and still listed as current county custody. The released roster covers people in the sheriff site's recent release path. Both are free public pages. No account, paid login, or court portal subscription was found for the sheriff roster during research.
The roster is the first channel for most Morgan County inmate records because the sheriff operates the county jail. It is not a statewide prison database. It does not replace the Alabama Department of Corrections locator for sentenced state inmates, the BOP locator for federal prison custody, or the ICE locator for immigration detention. Use Morgan County Inmate Roster
The sheriff roster can be searched by first or last name, but the local controls also allow browsing. That matters when a name has a spelling issue, a middle name is used, or the person was booked under a shortened first name. Start with the current roster if the arrest is recent or the person is believed to be in jail. Use the 48-hour release path when a bond, court order, sentence transfer, or release may have moved the person out of the current list.
- Open the sheriff roster chooser and select Current Inmates for a person believed to be in Morgan County Jail now.
- Enter a first name or last name in the Search By Name box. The field accepts either first or last name.
- Use Search to submit the name, or Show All to reset the roster if the result set is too narrow.

People who have just gone to court may not move through release as soon as a docket or bond entry changes. The sheriff release page says complete court paperwork must reach the jail, and release can still take hours because jail staff must run warrant checks, handle headcount, manage new arrests, and clear facility issues.

Morgan County Inmate Profile
The full roster profile is the better source when a list entry says there are more charges in the profile. A typical Morgan County inmate profile shows the booking photo, name, VINE link, booking number, arresting agency, booking date, charge blocks, charge details, and bond entries. It does not show a public housing pod, full date of birth, home address, Social Security number, medical notes, court date, judge, or internal classification.

Because the profile itself cautions that bail and charges may change, the jail phone remains the best channel before posting bond or relying on a case number.
Morgan County Records Access
When the online roster does not answer the question, use the access channel that matches the custody issue. The jail phone is best for live custody and bond confirmation. In-person contact is available at the Sheriff's Office and jail address. A formal public-records request is used for sheriff-held booking or inmate records that are not online. The sheriff request process has separate fees from commissary or court records. The public-records PDF lists a minimum processing fee, labor billed by the hour, black-and-white copy costs, and cashier's check or money order payment. Records may be withheld or redacted when juvenile confidentiality, sealed records, expungement, active investigation, security, medical privacy, or another legal exception applies.
Morgan County Custody Systems
County jail, state prison, federal prison, and immigration detention are separate systems. Morgan County Jail holds local bookings, pretrial detainees, county sentenced inmates, warrant holds, and some transfer or hold situations. The North Alabama Community Based Facility and Community Work Center is physically in Decatur, but it is an ADOC state facility for male minimum-custody inmates assigned to work release, community work, treatment, and education programs. The ADOC locator accepts an AIS number, first name, or last name. If the AIS number is entered, ADOC says it takes priority over name fields. ADOC also states that its search includes only currently incarcerated state inmates, does not provide historical data, and excludes Youthful Offender Act inmates from search and population totals. Federal pretrial custody may involve the U.S. Marshals Service before BOP has a public locator result.
Morgan County Jail Facilities

Morgan County Booking Records
A Morgan County arrest normally moves from the arresting agency to Morgan County Jail unless the case is handled by citation or another lawful release path. Decatur Police policy materials repeatedly point adult arrestees to Morgan County Jail for felony warrants, arrests for other agencies, employee arrests, and other adult custody events. At intake, the public jail record can include the person's name, age, gender, race, booking number, arresting agency, booking date, charges, bond, and mugshot.
The sheriff bond material describes the early court link after booking. An officer books the defendant, appears before a magistrate, swears an affidavit, and secures an arrest warrant when required. The warrant and affidavit are sent to the Circuit Clerk, where the documents are entered and a case number is assigned. A person can sometimes make bail before all paperwork reaches the courthouse, which is why the jail roster and court record may not match at the same moment.

Morgan County Jail Visits
Morgan County Jail is a non-contact facility. The sheriff's current inmate visitation page says all visits are available online through JailATM. The FAQ also mentions VendEngine or CorrectPay, so the current visitation page should control unless jail staff confirms a different vendor. No official day-by-day public visitation schedule, visit length chart, dress code, visitor approval form, or remote-video fee table was located in the sheriff pages reviewed.

Morgan County Inmate Contact
Mail, money, and app alerts use separate systems. The sheriff's mail page says personal mail changed on April 1, 2025. Physical mail is photocopied or scanned and delivered electronically, while legal mail is still delivered to the inmate. General inmate mail must include the sender's full first and last name, return address, inmate full first and last name, inmate ID number, and full correctional institution name.
The mailing address format listed by the sheriff is Morgan County Jail, Inmate Name / Inmate ID, PO Box 16060, Jonesboro, AR 72401. JailATM electronic mail is available, and all mail or messages are reviewed and approved by facility staff. Money orders, personal checks, gift cards, cash, and legal mail are not accepted through JailATM mail. Books must be paperbacks, requested through the inmate kiosk or local library, come directly from a distributor, and stay within the jail's two-book housing-area limit.
